Thames Television continuity promotions and trailers
An important part of any television station is getting viewers to watch the programmes.
Today, television stations use the slickest possible 'movie trailer' style techniques, but it wasn't always the case.
Between the 1960s and 1990s, promos were generally simpler and often voiced by in-house announcing staff.
Continuity promotions and trailers were used by Thames Television to publicise and promote its programmes and to build a strong station identity.
Here, we present a selection of Thames Television continuity and programme promotions from the 1970s to the 1990s.
